Women's Health Event - Learn, Laugh, Love
Scotland Memorial Foundation proudly presents this annual event for women of all ages. Learn, Laugh, Love is an educational, all-day, fun-filled, event. The day begins with health screenings and a healthy breakfast. Throughout the day participants choose from breakout sessions, visit with exhibitors, enjoy the keynote address, and indulge on some fabulous healthy snacks and lunch. Ladies leave that afternoon with a goody bag, door prizes, and much more. The Women's Health Event is held the first Saturday each February and there is a small registration fee to attend.
Men's Health Event
Attention all men! Want to get on the right track to healthy living? Scotland Memorial Foundation hosts an annual community health event just for men. Men of all ages come together to talk about issues that men face at all stages of life. Exhibitors, free health screenings, food, giveaways, and more. This event is typically held each June and requires registration.
A FREE diabetes education fair is held annually in November and is provided to all those who live with diabetes themselves or with someone diagnosed with diabetes.
Sponsored by Scotland Memorial Foundation, the event features free health screenings, exhibitors and guest speakers. Registration is typically required for this annual event.
Diabetes Path to Sweet Success
The free monthly Diabetes Path to Sweet Success three-part series helps participants learn now to make good choices, how to work closely with their health care team, and how to prevent or delay complications from diabetes. The goal is to educate participants to become effective self-care managers of their diabetes and how to get started living well with diabetes.
Class Times and Location
Sessions run from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Scotland Community Health and Rehabilitation Center - Community Health Classroom on the hospital campus. (Locations may vary rotating through-out Scotland, Marlboro, and Robeson counties) Meets the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Tuesday of each month.
How to Enroll
Ask your physician to complete and fax a referral to 910-276-7682, and start getting help with your diabetes today! You will receive detailed class enrollment information by mail once staff receives your referral. Registration is not required but strongly encouraged.
Diabetes Support Group
The Diabetes Support Group meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. in the W.R. Dulin Center. For more information about the support group or any of the educational programs, call Patrick Bines at 910-291-6933 or email Patrick Bines.
Heart Healthy Program
A program held the third Tuesday of each month; provided courtesy of The Duke endowment and Scotland Memorial Foundation. Topics include physical activity, healthy eating, hypertension, and cholesterol education. Call 910-291-6933 to register and for more information.
